Stannah

Case Study

You’ve probably heard of Stannah. They’re one of the most famous stairlift manufacturers in the world.

In 2024, Stannah hosted a series of product launches in our video studio. These live events were not only to be live-streamed to a global online audience, with live Q&As. Stannah also wanted real-time footage from their busy, noisy factory warehouse.

In short, it was complex. Here’s what happened.

Our client

As you probably know, Stannah is the market leader for stairlifts and homelifts. The company was founded by Joseph Stannah 1867 and, more than 150 years later, it’s still a British family-run business.

The brief

Stannah asked us to produce a series of live events from our video studio showcasing the launch of a new product, Uplift. It carries two people, standing up, between floors in their home.

These events would be live-streamed to an interactive audience of B2B distributors across Europe and the USA. Initially, Stannah also wanted the events to incorporate live footage streamed from their busy factory warehouse.

These live broadcasts were designed to:

  • Demonstrate the enormous scale of the manufacturing process
  • Give the audience of distributors insight into the product’s assembly and installation
  • Encourage the audience to interact with live Q&As
  • Highlight the new product’s value to customers

Given that last point, we suggested that Stannah tell the story of a real customer, and the difference this product could make to their lives.

They agreed. As well as footage of the manufacturing process, we would also film a lift being installed and used in an elderly couple’s home.

The process

This was a collaborative process. There were several moving parts to this project, all happening in real time — a live-streamed event for an interactive global audience, live factory footage, and a case study streamed live from a customer’s home.

Would all this be too tricky? A factory is a noisy, unpredictable environment. Assembling a lift in someone’s home takes time. Would an entirely live production give Stannah the result they wanted?

We came up with a solution. While the launch event itself would be live, why not pre-film the manufacturing process and customer case study.

This gave Stannah the best of both worlds. At the product launch, the audience would experience the unbeatable buzz of live production. In addition, they’d see a highly polished, professionally edited video featuring both the factory and the authentic story of Stannah’s customers.

"Audience numbers in both Europe and the USA were high — twice as many as our client had anticipated. The Q&As were particularly successful, with 64% of the audience interacting with the sessions."

The result

The product launch events went off without a hitch. They began with a live introduction in our studio from Sam Stannah, the company’s MD and the 6th generation of the family.

In between two live Q&A sessions, the audience were shown the professionally produced video. It showcased the new lift, highlighted Stannah’s scale of production and, importantly, showed Uplift’s real-life value to customers.

The launch events were, effectively, a perfect blend of live video production, brand storytelling and corporate video production.

Audience numbers in both Europe and the USA were high — twice as many as our client had anticipated. The Q&As were particularly successful, with 64% of the audience interacting with the sessions.
